About Praia de Juquehy

Praia de Juquehy (beach) is one of the most popular on the South Coast of São Sebastião, on the São Paulo North Coast. It lies between Barra do Sahy and Barra do Una, at the foot of the Atlantic Forest-covered mountains of the Serra do Mar.

The strip of sand is long, wide and firm. That draws people who like to walk, run, cycle and play frescobol (beach paddleball) by the water. The middle of the beach is the busiest stretch; near the ends the mood is more relaxed.

The sea ranges from calm to moderate along the shore. At one end the waves are stronger and surfers show up. At the other, a river meets the sea and forms a stretch of gentle water, popular with families with small children.

Behind the sand is a neighborhood of vacation homes and gated communities, with pousadas, restaurants, kiosks and small shops. It is an easy beach to visit: you can drive almost to the sand and there is no trail to tackle.
