About Praia de Camburi
Praia de Camburi (beach) is on the South Coast of São Sebastião, on the São Paulo North Coast. It is next to Praia de Camburizinho, separated from it by the Rio Camburi (river) and a small rocky point.
The sand is light, soft and wide, framed by hills covered in Atlantic Forest. The sea is usually rough, with waves that make Camburi a well-known surf spot on the São Paulo coast.
Because of the waves, the beach mainly draws surfers and a young crowd. For calmer swimming, many people cross over to Camburizinho, which has gentler water. From the top of the point between the two beaches you can see both coves.
Behind the sand there is a village with pousadas (guesthouses), restaurants, kiosks and shops, which gets lively at night in season. Access is easy, by car, with no trail.

Practical information
How much time to set aside
Half a day is enough for the beach; a full day if you want to surf and continue on to Camburizinho.
Best time
From late spring to early fall, for the heat; if you are surfing, check the wave forecast, as waves tend to be bigger with cold fronts. Early in the morning the beach is emptier.
How to get there
It is on the South Coast of São Sebastião (SP), next to the Rio-Santos highway (BR-101/SP-55), between Praia da Baleia and Camburizinho. Access is via the Estrada do Camburi (road); you can park on the neighborhood streets and at businesses near the shore.
Tip
When the sea is rough, go in near the lifeguards and avoid the currents by the river. If you have children, swimming is calmer at neighboring Camburizinho.
