About Praia do Jabaquara
Praia do Jabaquara (beach) is at the far north of Ilhabela, between the Pacuíba and Fome beaches, at the end of the road that runs up the inner side of the island. It is one of the most popular beaches for people looking for a calm sea and nature without needing a trail or a boat.
The sea is clear and calm, with a sandy bottom, good for swimming and for kids. The strip of sand is wide and surrounded by the forest of the Parque Estadual de Ilhabela. Two streams run down to the beach; the one at the right end forms a freshwater lagoon, separated from the sea by sand and large rocks, where many people rinse off the salt after a swim.
The drive is part of the trip. After Praia da Armação, the pavement ends and a stretch of dirt road begins, passing small beaches and viewpoints. A regular car can usually make it, if you take it slow.
The beach has kiosks and restaurants with chairs, restrooms and freshwater showers. The visit is easy for any age.
