About Serrote e o farol
Serrote is the hill that rises next to the village of Jericoacoara and the highest point in Parque Nacional de Jericoacoara. At the top is the Jeri lighthouse, and from there you get one of the widest views in the region.
The climb starts from the village, at the end of Rua do Forró, and follows a trail up the hill. It is a simple walk, but with no shade, and the Ceará sun is intense. If you don't want to walk, you can go up by horse cart, which leaves from the foot of the hill.
From the top you see the village, Praia da Malhada, the dunes and the sea, and you can spot Pedra Furada from above. When the tide is high and you can't reach Pedra Furada along the beach, the route over Serrote is the alternative.
It is a free outing, good for people who enjoy walking and taking photos. Late afternoon is the favorite time, but the way down after sunset gets dark and calls for a flashlight.
