About Praia de Arpoeiras
Praia de Arpoeiras is one of the largest beaches in Acaraú, on Ceará's west coast. It has a strip of pale sand, a calm sea and clear water, and it usually gets quite busy in high season.
What stands out most is the tide. When it goes out, the sea pulls back and exposes a strip of wet sand kilometers long, which is why Arpoeiras is known as a "dry beach." How far the sea pulls back changes with the phases of the moon: it is greatest at full moon and new moon.
At high tide, swimming is easy, with gentle waves, and the city government recommends the beach for children and seniors. You can also cool off in the pools and natural pools that form on the sand.
The steady wind makes Arpoeiras a kitesurfing spot, especially in the second half of the year, when the strongest winds blow. Along the shore there are stalls, bars and restaurants facing the sea, with fish and seafood dishes.
