About Praia da Volta do Rio
Praia da Volta do Rio (beach) is on the coast of Acaraú, in western Ceará, on the border with the municipality of Itarema. It is a long beach, with several kilometers of sand, and gives its name to the community that lives beside it.
The Volta do Rio community lives largely from traditional fishing, and the beach keeps the feel of a fishing village on the Ceará coast.
Another feature of the landscape is the wind turbines of the Volta do Rio wind farm, set up next to the beach, which can be seen from many points along the sand.
It is a quiet place, for people who want to walk by the sea, swim and get to know a fishing community, away from the crowds at the region's best-known destinations.
