The Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Rocio, in the Rocio neighborhood of Paranaguá, is the main center of devotion to the patron saint of Paraná. It receives organized pilgrimages throughout the year and visitors from all over the state.

The devotion is old. According to tradition, in the 17th century fishermen found a small statue of Our Lady in the waters of the Baía de Paranaguá, and the devotion is dated from 1648. In 1977, Pope Paul VI recognized Nossa Senhora do Rocio as patron saint of Paraná, the first Brazilian state with a patron saint recognized by the Vatican.

The church faces a large square with gardens and palm trees. You can attend Mass, pray or simply pause in silence. Some Masses are streamed online.

The highlight of the year is the Festa de Nossa Senhora do Rocio, in November, with novenas, Masses, concerts and the procession on the patron saint's day, which draws crowds. Outside the festival, the visit is quiet and takes no physical effort.
