About Morro do Cabaraquara

Morro do Cabaraquara (hill) is a rise covered in Atlantic Forest on the north shore of the Baía de Guaratuba, on the Paraná coast. It lies within the Parque Nacional Saint-Hilaire/Lange (national park), one of the best-preserved areas of forest in the state.

A trail climbs through the forest to the top of the hill. From up there, the view takes in the bay with its mangroves and islands, the town of Guaratuba, the open sea and the Serra do Mar in the background.

The climb takes fitness: there are steep stretches, banks and spots where a rope helps. It is not an outing for small children or people with reduced mobility. Since the hill is in a national park, it is best to go with a licensed guide.

At the foot of the hill, the Cabaraquara area is known for oyster farming in the bay, done by small producers since the 1980s. In 2025, Cabaraquara oysters received Geographical Indication status.
