Barreiros is about 105 km from Recife, via the BR-101 and the PE-060, next to Tamandaré. There are regular buses from downtown Recife to the town. Praia do Porto (beach) is about 7 km from the center. Nearest airport: Recife.
How many days
One day is enough for the main church, Praia do Porto, the Coqueiro Solitário (lone coconut palm) and Mamucabinhas. If you want more beach time, it's common to stay in neighboring Tamandaré.
When to go
From September to March, with more sun. Roughly from April to July it rains more. The reefs and the sand around the coconut palm are more exposed at low tide.
Do you need a car?
Yes, to get from the center to the beaches, about 7 km away, and to drive along the coast. In the center, the main church and the square are next to each other.
