About Mangue Seco

Mangue Seco is a district of Jandaíra at the far north of the Bahian coast, beside the estuary of the Rio Real and the border with Sergipe. The former fishing village became known because of the soap opera Tieta, inspired by the work of Jorge Amado. Today it receives travelers who cross the river to walk through the village and continue to the beach. The dunes and coconut trees are part of the same coastal complex, protected by a conservation area. The tour may include a route accompanied across the dunes, but the choice depends on the day's conditions and local rules. The boat crossing should be organized together with the return. Bring sun protection and water for walks on the sand. Avoid stepping on the restinga vegetation and follow the routes used by local guides, preserving the environment that sustains the village's landscape.
