About Praia Martim de Sá
Martim de Sá is one of the best-known and busiest beaches in Caraguatatuba. It is on the urban part of the waterfront, a few kilometers from downtown, and is a favorite with visitors.
The sand is lined by a promenade and a bike path, with bars, restaurants and kiosks along the shore that are open day and night. In high season, the beach is crowded and lively.
The sea changes along the beach. One end has calmer water, popular with families for swimming; the other has stronger waves and draws surfers. On the sand and in the water there is volleyball, surf lessons, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, banana boat rides and boat and schooner trips.
Next to it is Prainha, a small beach with calm water, home to the Pedra do Jacaré, a rock formation that is one of the city's postcard views. Short trails lead along the rocky shore to the rock and to the top of the hill.
