About Morro Santo Antônio
Morro Santo Antônio (hill) is the best-known viewpoint in Caraguatatuba. It stands about 325 meters above sea level, just behind downtown, and from there you see the whole city from above.
At the top there is a statue of Santo Antônio, the city's patron saint, and an open area with a lawn and railings. The hill is also a launch site for hang gliding and paragliding: on days with good wind, you can watch pilots take off from the ramp and glide over the city to the beach.
The view takes in the curved waterfront of Caraguatatuba, the bay, the downtown neighborhoods and, in the background, the São Sebastião channel, with Ilhabela and the mountains on the horizon. In June, the hill hosts an open-air Mass in honor of the saint.
The climb is steep. If you walk, you need to be fit and should bring water, because there are no shops at the top. By car the way is easier, but parking space is limited.

Practical information
How much time to set aside
40 minutes to 1 hour at the top; add the time for the climb if you walk.
Best time
On clear days, early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the sun is lower and the view of the bay is sharper; sunset is the most popular time.
How to get there
The hill is next to downtown Caraguatatuba. A road leads to the top, by car or on foot; the walking trail is about 2 km of steep climbing. There are no shops at the top.
Tip
