About Praia da Boca da Barra
Praia da Boca da Barra (beach) is at the southern end of the Tamandaré coastline, on the south coast of Pernambuco, near the border with Barreiros. This is where the Mamucabas River meets the sea, which gives the beach its name.
It is the quietest stretch of the municipality's coast. There are few buildings by the sea and long stretches of empty sand, with coconut groves and native vegetation just behind. It is far from the bustle of Carneiros and Tamandaré's central waterfront.
At the river mouth, the river water mixes with the sea and sandbanks form that change shape with the tide. To the south, these sandbanks and the calmer waters of the estuary dominate; to the north, the sea is more open.
The beach suits those looking for peace and quiet and long walks on the sand. Don't expect beach stalls or services like those at the region's better-known beaches.
