About Praia de Ponta de Mangue
Praia de Ponta de Mangue (beach) is on the north coast of Maragogi, in Alagoas, past Praia de Antunes. It has a wide strip of light sand, lots of coconut palms and a calm sea in shades of green and blue.
It is one of the quietest beaches in town. Businesses are simple, with a few kiosks and restaurants, and it is less busy than the neighboring beaches. In some spots, hammocks are set up in the water, one of the most photographed images of Maragogi.
At low tide the sea becomes shallow and you can take long walks to the sandbanks that form far from the shore. Offshore are the natural pools of Ponta de Mangue, over the corals of the Costa dos Corais Environmental Protection Area. They are reached by boat and are considered the shallowest in Maragogi, with an area set aside for snorkeling.
The shallow sea with no waves appeals to families with young children and to those looking for peace and quiet. The beach is also a starting point for kayak, stand-up paddleboard and pedal boat trips.
