About Praia de Antunes
Praia de Antunes (beach) is on the north coast of Maragogi, in Alagoas, and is one of the town's postcard images. It has light sand, rows of coconut palms and a calm sea with no waves, in shades of turquoise and green.
The big show happens at low tide. A sandbank stretches out into the sea to the coral reef and forms small natural pools between the sand and the reefs. You can walk through the shallow water, see fish and snorkel.
Along the beach there are bars and kiosks that rent chairs and umbrellas, and in some spots hammocks are set up in the water. Walking one way you reach Barra Grande, where the Caminho de Moisés (Moses' Path) appears. The other way are quieter beaches, such as Ponta de Mangue.
The shallow sea with no waves makes Antunes a good beach for families with children. On weekends and in high season it gets very crowded.
