About Praia do Boqueirão

Praia do Boqueirão (beach) is in Japaratinga, on the north coast of Alagoas, within the Costa dos Corais, a stretch of reefs and clear sea that runs from Maceió to southern Pernambuco. Japaratinga began as a fishing settlement, and Boqueirão still has that quiet feel.

The water is warm and almost without waves, good for swimming at any age. The sand is fine, with a few rocky stretches, and many trees and coconut palms provide shade. It is a rustic, uncrowded beach, with few bars.

At low tide, shallow natural pools form near the shore. In the Boqueirão area there are also freshwater spouts, which beachgoers use to rinse off the salt.

On the neighboring stretch, Barreiras do Boqueirão, the light sand lies between cliffs and coconut groves, and the waterfront has bars and restaurants by the sea, some up high, with views of the beach. If you want quiet, stay at Boqueirão; if you want more facilities, walk to Barreiras.
