About Praia de Japaratinga
Praia de Japaratinga (beach) is the town's central beach, on the north coast of Alagoas, on the Costa dos Corais. It has a wide strip of white sand, coconut palms along the shore and a calm, warm sea, protected by the reefs.
It is the beach with the most facilities in the municipality, with pousadas (guesthouses), bars and restaurants with tables on the sand. Even so, it is usually quiet, much less crowded than the beaches of neighboring Maragogi.
It is also the starting point for trips to the natural pools of Japaratinga, which form among the reefs at low tide. Jangadas (rafts) and other boats leave right from the waterfront, and the crossing takes about 20 minutes. There, you can snorkel and see fish and corals.
The sea with no waves makes the beach a good option for families with children and for those who just want to float. In the natural pools, it is forbidden to step on the corals and feed the fish.
